Lessons & Coachings
For over fifteen years Stephan has maintained an active teaching practice for students of all ages and skill levels teaching Piano (RCM/Rock/Pop), Voice (Musical Theatre/Rock/Pop), Music Theory and Songwriting. He has worked as a choir director for Anthony Bastianon's Voices Rock, has run extra-curricular programs at Toronto's Paul Penna Downtown Jewish Dayschool and Wychwood Barns, and is the Vocal Music Professor at George Brown Theatre School. In addition to his diplomas from both George Brown Theatre and The Royal Conservatory of Music Stephan has studied piano performance with Ronald Schmoll and voice with Marie Baron and Debora Joy.
VOICE
Stephan has worked with singers of all levels from Dora Award winning actors to individuals who are making their theatrical debut. It is truly a luxury to find a music director who has such an acute awareness of the intricacies of text and music and how they effect narrative storytelling. Stephan's skill as an actor and musician allow him to offer such magnificent and specific direction when working with singers.

PIANO
Stephan has been teaching my two daughters piano for the past four years. Along with having exceptional technical musical skill, he is an incredibly gifted and caring teacher. My daughters have very different personalities and Stephan was able to quickly understand that and figure out how to best individually motivate them; in that way, he's been able to foster a love of music that has made them feel confident and safe to take risks. Stephan is, by far, one of the best teachers they have ever had in large part due to his ability to truly “get” my children and make music fun.

SONGWRITING
...When as teenager, my son Jonah‘s musical interest pivoted to music composition and production, Stephan created a supportive, engaging and interactive program for Jonah, despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19. Jonah has loved the work with Stephan and is always thrilled to share his projects with him.
Moreover, Stephan is not only a great music teacher, but also just all around great influence and inspiration for my kids. He has a great capacity to understand and support any type of learner and brings a real joy and passion to his lessons.
